YOGA CLASSES

DAILY

WE SEE YOGA DIFFERENTLY

Yoga is for everyone. No one is too old or too stiff, too fat or thin or tired.  In our class we modify the asanas (yoga postures) if needed with the use of props -- such as blocks, blankets and belts. Props allow for a deeper penetration into the posture, as well as a longer stay.

Do you lift bro?

I watched a friend of mine cone into the gym this week and wreck himself for 3 days in a row and it left me with a troubling sense. As winter is approaching and the ski and snowmobile season is fast approaching it’s important to be strong. Strength is the glue that holds everything together. […]

I have been in the gym for over 20 yrs. Over those years many things have come and gone. I have seen the rise and fall of body building, spinning, machine based training, etc. But the one thing that never changes, never will change, and never should change is picking up heavy things. If you […]

Barbell complexes

I’m reading Dan Johns latest book and he mentions Javorek barbell complexes. I only had 30 mins yesterday to get in a workout and I decided to try the complex. The only rule is that once you start you can’t let go of the barbell until you have finished the set, and you want the […]

Track and field

Want to know what the key to speed and power is? It’s built through squats, deadlifts, and plyometrics. This analogy will make sense take 2, 180lb male athletes and one (A) has a 1.5 body weight deadlift totalling 270lbs and the other athlete (B) has a 2x body weight deadlift totalling 360lbs. Athlete B will […]

What’s the colored tape on all the Olympic athletes?

It’s called kinesio tape and it was developed by Kenzo Kase a Japanese chiropractor in 1979. It’s supposed to lift the skin and provide space between the skin and the muscle allowing smooth muscle movement, drainage, and increased blood flow.  The real question is does it work? As of date there is no actual science […]

Back to foam rolling

How much time do you spend on the roller? A couple of minutes a day? Not at all? Or hours? I try to spend at least 30 mins a day on the roller. When I was in my 30’s I never even looked twice at the roller. When I started it hurt and was uncomfortable. […]

Time managment

This week has been a bit crazy being a short one for me. Full client load, fixing my truck, and spending as much time with my daughter as I can it didn’t leave much room for my training. But, I found time to get in at least 2 workouts before the week ends. So, even […]
