I have been in the gym for over 20 yrs. Over those years many things have come and gone. I have seen the rise and fall of body building, spinning, machine based training, etc. But the one thing that never changes, never will change, and never should change is picking up heavy things. If you want to make a difference in your physique you need to pick up heavy things. The lifts central to strength are push, pull, squat, hinge, and loaded carry. If you build a program around squat, deadlift, bench press, pullups, overhead press, swings, and farmers walks, and that’s all you did you would be a strong human being.
