Prior to becoming a massage therapist in 1998, Peter worked as an Experimental Psychologist for a Fortune 500 company. The work consisted of testing user interaction with computer software to help improve usability and functionality for the end consumer. Interpreted broadly, it was a kind of therapy for software and it helped Peter recognize the importance of being client-centered.
With a keen interest in Health & Nutrition, Physical Fitness, and the Healing Arts, Peter attended and graduated from the Swedish Institute in New York City, in 1998. After graduating, Peter practiced for 15+ years in New York City before moving to Colorado.
While in New York, Peter worked extensively with professional tennis players like John McEnroe, Patrick Rafter & Serena Williams, professional baseball players like CC Sabathia, professional basketball players like David Robinson, numerous runners and triathletes, along with a roster of celebrities from theater, film and television like Tyra Banks, Carol Alt, Renee Zellweger, Jennifer Garner, John Travolta, Ricky Martin, Olivia D’Abo, David Hyde Pierce, Bebe Neuwirth, and many others. Peter’s specialties include: Deep Tissue Massage, Sports Massage, Trigger Point, Neuromuscular Therapy, Reflexology, Pre-natal/Post-natal, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Hot Stone, and Shiatsu.
In addition to using and blending various massage modalities, Peter has innovated several techniques not found in standard massage school curricula. All excellent massage therapists tend to innovate their own techniques based on their persistent attention and ongoing, daily study of the human condition. This innovation is an ongoing pursuit.
Beyond technical innovations, Peter often works to achieve a kind of attunement which can facilitate an even deeper kind of healing, not attainable via standard mechanical manipulation. Some of this attunement is correlated with high theta brain wave patterns or mental states akin to various levels of Samadhi meditation. Peter incorporates this kind of attunement therapeutically into his treatments when it is appropriate. Peter also utilizes Craniosacral Therapy techniques to help support his clients.
Seemingly, shy, reserved and introspective at first, Peter is a jokester at heart. He has performed stand-up comedy and worked various TV & radio shows.
Experience: Peter has worked in many spas, clinics and wellness centers since 1998. He has worked with many different professional and high level athletes and also worked at the US Open Tennis tournament 5 times providing work for the competing athletes.
